
Eediat, the Jamaican Patois term for “idiot,” is often used to describe someone acting foolishly or making poor decisions. In the context of real estate, it might surface during heated discussions or negotiations. A seller frustrated by lowball offers might exclaim, “Dem tink mi a eediat fi sell mi property fi dat price?” Similarly, a buyer might use it jokingly when recounting a story about missing out on a great deal, saying, “Mi did move too slow like one eediat an’ somebody else grab it.” While it’s a strong term, its use can reflect the passion and high stakes involved in real estate transactions, adding a layer of authentic Jamaican expression to the industry.
