Pleez

Pleez, derived from the English word “please,” is used in Jamaican Patois as a polite way to request something or show gratitude. In everyday conversation, it’s a common and casual expression of politeness. In real estate, it might be used when making a polite request for assistance or information. For example, a prospective buyer might say, “Mi wud like to see di house, pleez,” when asking a real estate agent to show them a property. It could also be used to express a polite request for further details, such as, “Mi a look fi a place inna di city, can yuh show mi some options, pleez?” showing a tone of respect or politeness in the interaction. It’s also used to soften a demand, like in “Mi would love fi get di keys today, pleez,” which would sound more courteous than just stating a request directly. The use of “pleez” conveys a sense of respect and is often expected in Jamaican culture when interacting with others, especially in service-related environments like real estate.
