Three Hills is a peaceful residential community in St. Mary, Jamaica, situated about 12 kilometers east of Ocho Rios and 56 kilometers west of Port Maria. Many residents are involved in farming or work in the tourism industry in nearby Ocho Rios. The community is home to Three Hills Primary School, which has been serving local students since the early 19th century. Initially located in Three Hills, the school was relocated to the Hopewell property, donated by the Baptist church. The school now educates around 175 students with a staff of 12, including a principal, eight teachers, and three ancillary workers. In July 2022, the school received a J$4.4 million upgrade from Couples Resorts Tower Isle, which included a state-of-the-art computer and multipurpose center with new computers, a multimedia projector, and air conditioning. Despite economic challenges, with over half of the students coming from single-parent households and many relying on the PATH program, the school continues to focus on both academic and personal growth. The area is known for its tranquil atmosphere, attracting both locals and returning residents who seek a peaceful lifestyle while staying close to urban conveniences. The real estate market offers a variety of homes, from family residences to larger properties, some with scenic views of the lush surroundings. The proximity to Ocho Rios means residents can enjoy a quiet lifestyle with easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment options. With its historical significance, natural beauty, and ongoing development, Three Hills remains an important part of St. Mary’s cultural and residential landscape. Published February 18, 2024
